9 Day Tour of Madagascar
Description
Day 1: Antananarivo
Welcome to Madagascar! Are you ready to begin a fascinating journey filled with lemurs and baobabs? After collecting you from the Antananarivo Ivato International Airport, we'll bring you to a hotel in the capital of Madagascar where you can rest after your flight and regain some energy before the next 8 days.
Day 2: Antananarivo – Andasibe
We'll eat breakfast at the hotel and we'll begin this first day travelling to Andasibe. Our first stop? The Peyrieras Reserve is the perfect place to explore the rich biodiversity of Madagascar, where chameleons, frogs, snakes, butterflies, lizards, and of course, lemurs will be the main attraction of the day.
We'll discover the particularities of every one of the animals that we'll see on our way, as well as the important variety of lemurs that inhabit the island. Andasibe is known as a lemur's paradise.
During the afternoon, we'll visit Mitsinjo Park, where we'll keep learning all about the animals in Madagascar. This reserve is known as one of the best places to spot Indris lemurs, the biggest lemur in the world. Their size is sure to surprise you!
At night, we'll take part in a nighttime tour of the forest to look for animals that come out under the light of the moon. The perfect way to finish off the day!
Day 3: Andasibe
With renewed energy from breakfast, we'll keep exploring Andasibe. Will we get to see the 11 different species of lemurs that inhabit Madagascar's interior? We'll try! In addition, we'll spend the morning learning interesting facts about the flowers of this Indian Ocean island.
Afterwards, we'll visit Lemurs Island and Crocodile Park, where we'll continue falling in love with the queen species of Madagascar.
We'll finish off the day by returning to the hotel in Andasibe.
Day 4: Andasibe – Antsirabe
After breakfast, we'll leave Andasibe behind and make our way towards Antsirabe. During the long journey that awaits us, we'll take in beautiful landscapes, where the colourful valleys will sweeten the journey and make it even more unforgettable.
Once we've arrived at our destination, we'll take a guided tour of Antsirabe in the most typical way: on a rickshaw! Throughout the tour, we'll see why this city is known for its thermal waters, which are world-famous for their therapeutic properties.
Day 5: Antsirabe – Morondava
At the break of dawn and with full bellies, we'll make our way to one of the most famous places in all of Madagascar. Have you heard of Baobabs Avenue? It's the most photographed location on the whole island!
Located in Morondava, Baobabs Avenue is a completely magical place. These gigantic trees will leave you speechless. Thanks to the guide, we'll learn all about this peculiar African species. Moreover, we'll have the immense pleasure of seeing the spectacular sunset at Baobabs Avenue. Don't forget to take some photos!
With emotions running high, we'll finish the 5th day back at the hotel in Mordondava. Until tomorrow!
Day 6: Morondava
We'll have breakfast at the hotel and then visit the mangroves and the fishing town of Morondava. For this, we'll hop aboard a traditional boat and enjoy the amazing nature on the west coast of Madagascar from the water.
That afternoon, we'll go on a hiking route through the trails of Kirindy Mitea National Park, the only place where the world's smallest rat lives. Will we get to see it? We'll try to spot this tiny rodent but during the entire hike, we'll also see many other types of animals, such as lemurs, amphibians and reptiles.
Later in the day, we'll be brought back to the hotel to rest until the following day.
Day 7: Morondava – Antsirabe
We're fast approaching the final part of our amazing tour around Madagascar. After breakfast, we'll leave Morondava behind and make our way back to Antsirabe. During the journey, we'll make a quick stop to rest and eat in Miandrivazo, considered to be one of the most welcoming places in Madagascar.
