Ancient Egypt Nile Tour

  • 12 reviews | 78 travellers
It was great, the guide Jacob picked us up punctually at the boat, a very comfortable car (although this is the least of it). Jacon, is a good Egyptologist. He explained everything very well. Very friendly. A different excursion. 100% recommended. We were in contact by phone at all times.

Famine Stela, Qubbet el-Hawa & Kitchener Island Tour Highlights

We'll begin your journey by picking you up from your hotel or the boat you're staying on, leading you to the east bank of the majestic Nile. Here, we'll embark on a boat destined for Sehel Island.

Upon reaching the island, you'll embark on a discovery of one of Egypt's remarkable treasures—the Famine Stela. This extraordinary natural rock formation depicts a Pharaoh making offerings to the deities Anuqet, Satet, and Jnum. Below the depiction, a 32-column inscription narrates the story of Pharaoh's concern over the country's severe drought and his request to Jnum for a life-giving flood of the Nile. In appreciation, Pharaoh sponsored the construction of temples on Elephantine Island.

Our journey then leads us to the necropolis of Qubbet el-Hawa, also known as the Valley of the Princes. These excavations harbor numerous tombs of high-ranking individuals, including nine well-preserved mummies from Egypt's Late Period, spanning over 2,500 years of history, among which is a mummified crocodile.

We'll return to our boat and navigate to Kitchener Island—an oasis in the Nile that has been transformed into a botanical garden since 1928. This earthly paradise is brimming with lush trees, rare plant species, and exotic birds. Here, you'll momentarily feel transported to a different world.

After traversing the Nile once more, we'll accompany you back to your ship or hotel.
