San Bernardino Day Trip
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Asunción and drive to San Bernardino, a town on the shores of Ypacaraí Lake. On the way there, we'll admire views of the Cordillera Department's lush, rugged landscapes and pass through picturesque villages where handicrafts are part of the way of life.
After around 50 minutes on the road we'll arrive in San Bernardino, which is one of the country's most popular summer destinations. Numerous artists and millionaires have residences here that they frequent in summer.
To begin, we'll head to Ypacaraí Lake to take a boat ride and learn about the history of San Bernardino and its geography. We'll spot the famous Hotel del Lago, a 19th-century building that's hosted presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Charles de Gaulle. We'll have a traditional lunch in this hotel and then take a tour so you can see its elegant style and furnishings.
Next, we'll take a guided tour of San Bernardino. We'll explore its avenues, squares and main buildings before rounding off our experience with a stop at La Alemana. This shop is famous for its buns, and you'll have some free time here to try one of these tasty treats if you wish.
We'll then return to Asunción and drop you off at your hotel at around 7 pm.
