On this day trip from Asunción, we'll visit the Jesuit Missions of Trinidad and Jesús de Tavarangüé and learn about the history of the Jesuit order in South America. You'll also have a blast at the Ecological Tree Museum complex.
Jesuit Missions of Trinidad and Jesús de de Tavarangüé + Tree Museum
Once we've picked you up from your hotel in Asunción at 1 am, we'll set off on our 5-hour road trip. On the way to our destination, we'll make a stop so you can stretch your legs and get yourself some breakfast. Eat up, as we've got a fun-packed day ahead!
At around 6 am, we'll arrive at the Missions of Trinidad and Jesús de Tavarangüé. These missions were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1993 and are the best-preserved missions in Paraguay. The largest one is the Mission of the Santísima Trinidad, which has several areas that we'll explore. As we wander around this site, we'll learn about the history of the arrival of the Jesuits in South America and their evangelising endeavours.
When we get to the reduction of Jesús de Tavarangüé, we'll discover how its construction was never completed and discuss a key moment for the Jesuit Order during the Spanish Empire.
After visiting these two complexes, we'll take a break so we can have a hearty lunch before heading to our next destination.
Our adventure will then take us to the Ecological Tree Museum complex, which is in the municipality of Alborada. You'll have until 6 pm to make the most of the different activities on offer at the complex, such as ziplines, bike ziplines, swings and viewpoints. You'll have a blast!
We'll reconvene and take our bus back to Asunción. Our arrival back at your hotel is scheduled for 11 pm.
