Historical Train Tour
After picking you up at your hotel in Asunción at 8 am, we'll go directly to the train museum, located in the old railway station of San Francisco.
First, we'll admire objects related to the Ferrocarril Carlos Antonio López railway, the first train in South America. In the museum, we'll also observe various instruments and pieces of furniture linked to the railway history of Paraguay and admire one of the first locomotives that arrived from England for passenger transport service.
We'll continue our tour of Asunción at the Botanical Garden station, where we'll see an old steam locomotive. After learning about its history, we'll leave the Paraguayan capital behind and, following the route of the first train in South America, we'll make our way to Pirayú to check out its train station, the only one in inland Paraguay with two towers.
After leaving you an hour free for lunch in Pirayú, we'll head to another point where South America's inaugural train used to stop, Sapucai, nicknamed the city of trains. We'll visit its Railway Museum, where we'll see some workshops dating back to 1895. We'll also marvel at its beautiful steam locomotives, true gems of transportation history.
Finally, at 3 pm we'll leave you back at your hotel in Asunción.
