Marangu Day Trip
Marangu Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and start this adventure. We'll head to Kilimanjaro, at the foot of which lies Marangu, a village where we'll learn all about the Chagga people.
The first stop will be at the Marangu Falls. Amidst lush nature, you'll hear the water rushing down, and then crystalline waterfalls will come into view. Want to go for a dip? Remember that the water comes from Kilimanjaro and will be refreshingly cool.
The tour will continue at the Chagga museum. The Chagga are the third largest ethnic group in Tanzania and were the first to convert to Christianity. We'll learn about their way of life and also visit the tunnels that served as a refuge during the inter-clan conflicts.
If there's one thing Marangu is famous for, it's for its colorful markets full of bananas. Let's explore them! After a brief stop for lunch to refuel, we'll continue the tour and move on to the coffee and banana plantations. You'll be surprised by all the different uses that the banana has for the Chagga people and we'll even sample mbege, a banana beer.
Once the visit is over, we'll return to Arusha, arriving back at your hotel at 4 pm.
