Why Visit Arromanches 360?
Found on the top of a cliff, over the remains of one of the temporary portable Mulberry harbours built by the Allied forces, the Arromanches 360 complex is home to a spectacular circular cinema.
On its 9 screens spread across 360 degrees, you'll watch a 20-minute projection of the Battle of the Normandy. This military operation, which started on June 6, 1944, was one of the most decisive and significant events in the Second World War.
You'll enter the circular cinema through a reception which hosts a small exhibition with maps, a chronology of dates, and many informative panels about this important historical event. There are also various objects from the British army on display belonging to the Mémorial de Caen museum.
During the projection, you'll see real images from the British, Canadian, German, American, and French military archives. As well as sequences of the landing, you'll also learn about other instances like the tragic bombings of Le Havre that took place between September 5 and 12, 1944.
The Battle of Normandy took place over the course of 100 days which changed the course of history. During the screening, you will see how the key events that shaped this crucial period unfolded.
