Set off from Armenia on an adventure to one of the most important nature reserves in this part of Colombia on our hike around the Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary. We'll go on an unforgettable hiking route around this beautiful place.
Otún Quimbaya Sanctuary Hike
Having picked you up from your hotel in Armenia at 8 am, we'll set off northbound for the Otún Quimbaya Flora and Fauna Sanctuary.
After driving for 1 hour 30 minutes, we'll arrive at this nature reserve nestled in the Central Cordillera of the Colombian Andes. This space is dedicated to the conservation of a variety of species, some in danger of extinction, that thrive in its ecosystems.
When we get there, we'll begin a 1.2-mile (2-kilometre) hike through the Andean rainforest. During our hike, which is of low difficulty, we'll see a number of birds in their natural habitat. We'll see moustached antpittas, multicoloured tanagers, torrent ducks and more birds endemic to this area.
In addition, we'll see mammals such as monkeys, silver foxes, tapirs and pacaranas. This sanctuary ensures that all these animals have a protected space in which they can live safely.
During our walk, we'll make a stop to get our energy back with a traditional local lunch consisting of one course a drink. After we've eaten, we'll continue walking and immersing ourselves in this area's nature.
We'll then return to Armenia and drop you off at your hotel at 3 pm.
