Marsella Day Trip
Marsella Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Armenia and set off. We'll drive to the town of Marsella, which was originally called "Villa Rica de Segovia", in the Risaralda Department.
On the way, we'll see the vast coffee plantations of the Cauca River valley. When we get to Marsella, we'll visit an agricultural farm and be welcomed by the locals with a delicious snack of patacones con hogao. This tasty treat of twice-fried plantain with a traditional onion and tomato sauce will be made from the farm's own produce.
Next, we'll explore the grounds by taking a tour of the cacao plantations and fruit trees - we might even get to taste some of the ripe fruit! Afterwards, we'll participate in an organic chocolate making workshop where you'll extract, roast and grind the cocoa beans yourself.
We'll let our chocolate liquid cool down so we can make a delicious cocoa drink to accompany the traditional lunch we'll have. For lunch, we'll have sancocho, which will be made with chicken and vegetables from the farm's garden.
Afterwards, we'll drive to the village and stop in the main square to sip on a steaming cup of Colombian coffee. We'll then stroll around Marsella to see its most symbolic sights, such as the Mary Immaculate Church and the House of Culture, inside which we'll find a National Heritage museum.
Last of all, we'll visit the Botanical Garden and the José María Cemetery. We'll then head back to your hotel in Armenia, where you'll be dropped off at 4:30 pm.
