Arica + Valley of Azapa Tour
Arica + Valley of Azapa Tour
Between 9 am and 10 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Arica and transfer you to the historic centre. There we'll embark on a walking tour through the main corners of this beautiful town, which is located in the northernmost part of the Chilean coast.
We'll start our tour of Arica, also known as "the city of eternal spring", by taking a walk along the beaches of Chinchorro and Las Machas. We'll also stop at the beautiful St. Mark's Cathedral which was built when the city belonged to Peru. The next stop will be at the Museo de Sitio Colón 10, where we'll see the remains of an ancient cemetery of the Chinchorros, the pre-Columbian people who inhabited this part of South America.
The route will continue past The Arica House of Culture and the railway station that connected with La Paz. We'll conclude the city tour at the Morro de Arica, where we'll enjoy beautiful views of the city centre and the Pacific coast.
After the tour of Arica, we'll head to the outskirts of the city to visit the Azapa Valley and contemplate the geoglyph land art of Sombrero Hill. We'll also stop at the Museum of San Miguel de Azapa to learn about the history of the Chinchorro mummies.
Finally, we'll stop at a farm in the Azapa Valley, where you'll be able to taste the delicious local olives. After this tasting, we'll return to your hotel in Arica, where we'll arrive at 2:30 pm.
