Highlights
At the scheduled time, we will meet on Zela Street and begin our tour of the Ciudad Blanca through a different lens. Do you fancy learning about the relationship between Arequipa and Peru's most famous drink? Then let's go!
We'll begin the tour on foot, entering the San Lazaro neighbourhood which is located on the ruins of a prehispanic settlement. We'll walk around its streets and small squares and admire the mansions, as well as the church of San Lazaro and the ashlar stone bridge.
Then, the tour will continue around Arequipa visiting the Precolombian Amano Textile Museum, where we'll get to see the ancestral techniques used in producing various artisan items, such as the different, fibres, machinery and materials used.
The next stop will be in the Solar neighbourhood, the perfect place to stop for a pisco tasting, Peru's most famous drink. After trying a pisco-based cocktail, we'll make our way towards the Tambo Matadero, a monument from the 17th century with a translucent story on its back.
We'll continue discovering the gastronomic delights that Arequipa has to offer by visiting both a coffee and chocolate workshop. There we'll try the lightest version of pisco thanks to a surprise cocktail that will be made for us. You'll adore it! From there, we'll make our way to Tambo de la Cabezona and after to Plaza de Armas, one of the most important historical locations in the city.
After 4 hours of touring around, we'll finish off by drinking some pisco in one of the bars at Plaza de Armas. Until next time!
