Colca Canyon Trek: 2 or 3 Days from Arequipa
Colca Canyon Trek: 2 or 3 Days from Arequipa
Day 1: Arequipa – Cruz del Cóndor – Oasis de Sangalle
At 3 am on the first day, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa and set off to Chivay, where we'll enjoy a hearty breakfast to fuel up before heading to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. We'll admire the views of Colca Canyon from this privileged vantage point - you'll be left speechless by its enormous size, as one of the deepest canyons in the world.
We'll then continue onwards to Pampa San Miguel, where our trekking route will begin. Breathtaking panoramic views, spectacular waterfalls, and hanging bridges await us as we descend into the canyon. During the hike, we'll take a break for lunch at the home of a family from San Juan de Chuccho. With our batteries recharged, we'll then continue our journey until we reach the Sangalle Oasis, where we'll enjoy a swim in its pools and an evening of bonfires. We'll spend the night here.
Day 2: Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa
We'll begin the second day with an early start, getting up at 5 am to set off on our route toward Cabanaconde, where we'll begin with a traditional breakfast. After this we'll head towards Chivay, passing by the natural viewpoint of Antahuilque and the village of Maca.
Around 11:30 am, we'll arrive at Yanque, where we'll spend some time in its hot springs. We'll have lunch in Chivay and then go to the viewpoint of the Andes, a perfect place to admire the panoramic views of the volcanoes of Hualca Hualca, Sabanaya, and Ampato.
After a last stop at Pampas Cañahuas to greet the vicuñas that live there, we'll return to Arequipa, where arrival is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
3-day trek in Colca Canyon
When making your reservation, you'll have the choice to book a 3-day trek instead of just two days. With this option, you'll have one more day to explore more of the Colca Valley. In addition to the places mentioned above, we'll visit Cosñirhua and Malata, see the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, and you can participate in a fishing tour on the Colca River.
