Chachani Volcano 2-Day Trip
Day 1
At 7:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa in a jeep and set off on our exciting adventure. We'll get to Pampa Cañahuas, located to the rear of the Chachani Volcano, and get our equipment ready as the guide gives us some basic tips.
The next 2 hours will be spent gradually making our way up to the base camp, which is located at an altitude of 17,060 feet (5,200 metres) above sea level. When we get there, we'll set up our tents and have a lunch of soup and pasta or canned food.
Once day has turned to night, we'll have a herbal tea and get some rest.
Day 2
Rise and shine! Our second day will start at 2 am. After getting ready for our adventure again and checking that everything is good to go, we'll warm up a little with a delicious breakfast. As the day begins to dawn, we'll set off on our climb to the summit of the Chachani Volcano.
If we have good weather, we'll get to the summit of Chachani at around 5 am after an intense hike. When we get there, you'll have some free time to have a snack and admire breathtaking views of the surrounding volcanoes. You'll be able to look out at Coropuna, the snow-capped peaks of Ampato, Hualca Hualca, and the active Sabancaya, Misti and Ubinas volcanoes.
After this break, we'll start our descent to base camp. On the way down, we'll make several stops to rest. When we get back to the starting point, the jeep will be waiting to take us back to Arequipa. You'll be dropped off at your hotel at around 7 pm.
