We'll meet at the designated time at Calle Jerusalén, where we'll start this free tour of the western side of Arequipa. Let's explore the most alternative part of Ciudad Blanca!
First, we'll step inside the Mercado Central San Camilo, a building from 1938 designed by Gustave Eiffel. We'll stroll along the food stands to learn about the main products in Peruvian cuisine. Plus, we'll tell you about Arequipeño traditions and the importance of picanterías among the population.
Continuing our tour, we'll visit a historic house so you can see its semi-circular arches and typical vaults. Then, we'll go to the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús, one of the prime examples of Andean Baroque. You'll visit its three cloisters and admire its stunning gargoyles.
Afterward, you'll enjoy the incredible scenic views of the Chachani, Misti, and Pichu Pichu volcanoes from the highest part of a building.
