Arenal Volcano & La Fortuna Waterfall Tour
Arenal Volcano & La Fortuna Waterfall Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Arenal at the arranged time and set off in a comfortable vehicle to the La Fortuna Waterfall.
This waterfall is only accessible by foot, so we'll go on an approximately eight-kilometre hike in total through the Arenal Volcano National Park, a biological reserve of a tropical rainforest. On the hike's first stretch, we'll follow the course of the La Fortuna River and finally board a vehicle that will take us to the top of a viewpoint so we can marvel at the wonders of the Costa Rican landscape.
Our hike will continue as we go up around 500 steps to reach the La Fortuna Waterfall. The climb will be worth it! This spectacular waterfall is over 70 metres high and at its feet is a huge pool of crystal clear water. You'll even get the chance to take a dip!
When we leave the waterfall and we'll go on a 20-minute walk to the small village of the Maluku indigenous community, where you'll learn about their customs, culture and language, as well as have the opportunity to visit one of their Palenkes (main house). To recharge our batteries we'll enjoy a meal in a local restaurant, located about 10 minutes away from the village.
After lunch we'll set off on another hike to the Arenal Volcano, passing through a forest of trees with enormous roots, full of fascinating species of birds, monkeys, sloths and coatis. After crossing the lake, we'll arrive at one of the most exciting places on the tour... from the highest point of the Arenal Volcano, you'll be able to take some impressive photographs of the volcano and its natural environment.
We'll head back down to the trail for the most relaxing part of this tour with a dip in the Arenal hot springs. You can bathe in its warm waters and have a snack and a drink. Can you think of a better way to end the trip?
We'll return to the hotels in Arenal at around 7 pm.
