Antwerp Mysteries and Legends Free Tour
Antwerp Mysteries and Legends Free Tour
The bells of Antwerp Cathedral ring out loud every evening at 8 pm on the dot. That's when we will meet up in the Grote Markt Square to begin our discovery of the mysteries and legends of the famous Flemish city. Standing in front of the elegant facade of the City Hall, you will see a statue of a mythical Roman soldier named Silvius Brabo. You will hear the fascinating story behind why he is throwing a giant's hand towards the river. On the front of the council building, you will spot a huge shield with the emblem of Spain while you learn about the strong connection the Spanish monarchy has with Belgium.
Our free night tour of mysteries and legends of Antwerp continues in the grounds of the Cathedral of Our Lady. Standing under the grand bell tower, you will hear a spooky true event that happened in this very spot. You will also explore the city's red light district where you will learn not only about the lascivious tales of Antwerp but also anecdotes about some of its most lecherous inhabitants.
Following the path along the banks of the river Scheldt, we will arrive at the MAS Museum aan de Stroom (Museum by the River). This state-of-the-art building is one of the city's architectural icons, and from its wonderful rooftop terrace, you will enjoy spectacular views of the port of Antwerp.
Finally at 9:30 pm, we'll conclude the free tour.
