Pacaya Volcano Hike
Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up at your hotel in Antigua Guatemala, from where we'll go by bus to the municipality of San Vicente Pacaya, located in Escuintla.
After an hour and fifteen minute drive, we'll arrive at this town, from where we'll start the hike up the slope of the Pacaya Volcano. During the 1.5-hour trekking route, you'll learn about the history of this active volcanic cone, which has recorded at least 23 eruptions since the Spanish first arrived here. You can also enjoy incredible views of the region.
Due to its constant eruptive activity, you'll be able to see the volcano's lava with your own eyes. It's truly impressive! As well as that, along the hike, we'll take the opportunity to stop for a rest and toast marshmallows in the magma streams. We'll have a great time!
After exploring the summit of the Pacaya volcano, we'll walk about for about an hour back to the village, where we'll get back on the bus to return to Antigua Guatemala. We'll drop you off where we picked you up from approximately 8 hours after the start.
