Sapukai Village Day Trip
Tour Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Angra dos Reis, we’ll head towards Bracuí. This mountainous region surrounded by the Atlantic Forest is home to one of the largest Guarani villages in the state of Rio de Janeiro, the Sapukai village.
A scenic 30-minute drive will bring us to this charming village, where we’ll be warmly welcomed by Augemiro, the village leader, who will guide us on a tour through the Guarani indigenous territory.
As we explore, we’ll learn about the community's traditions, including the rich Tupi Guarani language, their ancient medicinal practices still in use today, and their unique worldview, which is deeply connected to nature.
We’ll also discover the remarkable traditional Guarani handicrafts and learn about the local tilapia farming, a key aspect of their economy. You’ll have the chance to walk among the plantations of manioc, potatoes, bananas, pupunha palm hearts, and exotic fruits like açaí and juçara.
Following the tour, enjoy a vibrant indigenous dance and music performance. If time allows, we’ll take a stroll to the Bracuí River waterfall, where you can swim in its refreshing crystal-clear waters, surrounded by the jungle—an invigorating experience!
Next, we’ll head back, making a stop at the Bar do Chuveiro restaurant, where you can enjoy a delicious regional meal at your own leisure.
After this unforgettable 4 to 5-hour adventure, we’ll drop you off at your hotel, bringing our journey to an end.
