Admire spectacular scenery and mammals in their natural habitat with this Terceira Whale Watching. See one of the world's largest mammals up close in this unique experience!
Terceira Whale Watching
We'll meet at the agreed time at the Angra do Heroísmo marina, to begin our boat tour around the coast of Terceira island. As we sail the Atlantic ocean we'll enjoy incredible views of the island from the boat.
You'll have the opportunity to see whales in their natural habitat. The strategic position of the Azores between Europe and America means the islands are an important stop-off point for the whales which migrate at different times of the year. In summer it's common to see pilot whales, whilst during spring and autumn blue whales, the largest animal on earth, is more common.
During the tour, we'll also learn about the more surprising characteristics of these protected mammals, and the need to care for the environment and preserve the biodiversity of Terceira. If we're lucky, we might see some of the friendly dolphins which share the waters of the island with their larger cousins.
After 3 hours of sailing, we'll return to the starting point.
Important Information
Whales are commonly found off the coast of Terceira island. However, they are wild animals, and unpredictable. We cannot guarantee the number of whales nor the species we'll see during the tour.
