Explore the largest and most populated city in Alaska on this interesting tour of Anchorage and discover the lifestyle shown on Alaska: The Last Frontier.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Anchorage. There, we'll hop on a comfortable minibus and drive through the streets of one of the most important cities in Alaska: Anchorage!
First, we'll start the tour by visiting the most iconic spots in the city and walking down the famous 4th and 5th avenues. Did you know that these two streets formed the original settlement of Anchorage? We'll discuss the history of this place and learn about the lifestyle of its citizens during the colder months.
Our next stop? Ship Creek. As we visit this river, we'll discover the importance of fishing for the local people and learn about the five different species of salmon present in these waters. Then, we'll head to Lake Hood, where we'll be able to admire the impressive seaplanes floating over the water. And if we're lucky, we may even be able to see one of them take off or land!
The next destination on this tour is Earthquake Park. This 134-acre park is set in the woods where, in 1964, an entire neighbourhood slid into the ocean during last century's most intense earthquake. Next, we'll visit from outside a U.S. military base while we discuss the great strategic importance of Alaska throughout history.
The tour will continue at Point Woronzof, where we'll enjoy the views from the viewpoint there. On clear days, it's possible to spot Denali, with its 6190-metre (20,308 ft.) mountain, which makes it the highest in North America. After taking in the views, we'll head to Kincaid Park to try and spot some wild moose in their natural habitat.
Finally, we'll make our way to the hotels after between 1.5 and 2 hours together.
