Allow yourself to be seduced by "The Dutch Venice" with this excursion to the pastoral region of Giethoorn, where you'll pass through its famous canals in a delightful boat trip.
Giethoorn Day Trip
At the indicated time, we'll depart from the center of Amsterdam towards the north of Holland. After a 2-hour bus ride, we'll arrive at the picturesque town of Giethoorn: a municipality that borders the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, one of the Netherland's most beautiful natural areas.
Having arrived at the outskirts of the town, we'll leave the bus to enjoy a trip by boat through the canals of Giethoorn. This means of transport is the only way to access the centre of the town, and during the crossing you'll have the opportunity to admire typical Dutch houses and the wooden bridges which allow you to cross from one canal bank to the other.
We'll also learn about the history of Giethoorn, where the absence of motor vehicles is what gives this beautiful town its nickname: "The Dutch Venice." Having concluded the boat trip, you'll have time to have lunch in the town, a perfect opportunity to discover the gastronomy of the Netherlands.
After eating, we'll get back on the bus to return to Amsterdam.
Changes in the itinerary
Due to weather conditions, the boat trip may be subject to changes. Also, temporarily, due to road improvement works, before arriving in Giethoorn we'll stop for 30 minutes at Afsluitdijk. Here you can admire this impressive dike that connects the provinces of North Holland and Friesland.
