Traditional Dutch Stroopwafel Workshop
Make Your Own Dutch Waffle Cookie!
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Albert Cuyp Market. As we step inside, we'll be greeted by the smell of caramel and freshly baked dough.
Upon arrival, we'll have an introduction to the history of Dutch stroopwafels, which literally translates to 'syrup waffle', a speciality dating back to the 18th century. Then, we'll put on our aprons and watch carefully as the guide shows us how to make the perfect stroopwafel, from mixing up the dough to the exact cooking technique used to achieve the crispy texture.
Then, it will be time to put ourselves to the test and try preparing our very own stroopwafel. We'll roll out the dough and find out how to cook it to perfection on a traditional iron waffle maker. As the next step, we'll drizzle warm, velvety syrup between the thin waffle layers, before completing our stroopwafel with delicious toppings.
Giving our waffles time to cool, we'll enjoy a well-deserved break with a cup of tea or coffee. Then, we'll at long last get to taste one of our delicious creations. We'll wrap up the other one to take home. To put the cherry on top, we'll get a certificate of our new-found waffle making skills!
Finally, after a total of 45 minutes, we'll bring the workshop to an end, with the sweet taste of stroopwafels in our mouths.
