Wagah Border Closing Ceremony
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Amritsar and board a vehicle to attend the Wagah Border Closing Ceremony. We'll see this military spectacle of the lowering of the flags of India and Pakistan up close!
After a drive of about 40 minutes, we'll arrive at the Wagah-Attari border. Did you know that this amazing ceremony has been taking place every day since 1948? Upon arrival, we'll sit on the bleachers and enjoy a welcome drink – let the show begin! During the ceremony, you'll see the closing of the border fence as the border guards salute each other and perform different military movements and formations.
As we watch the closing of the Wagah border, we'll explain the history behind this ritual and several details. For example, did you know that it's also known as the "Beating Retreat Ceremony"? Every evening before sunset, both Indian and Pakistani soldiers meet here to participate in this 30-minute event in which they display their patriotism and camaraderie.
Finally, after 4-5 hours of enjoying this ceremony at the Wagah-Attari border, we'll take you back to your hotel in Amritsar and say our goodbyes.
