Day 1: Amman
Welcome to Amman! Once you've landed at the airport, we'll pick you up and take you to your hotel for the night. You'll have dinner at the hotel and then get some rest for the adventure of the week ahead. Sleep tight!
Day 2: Amman - Dead Sea - Amman
Good morning! After having breakfast at your hotel in Amman, we'll set off for the first visit of our 8-day tour package. We'll make our way down to almost 1,312 feet (400 metres) below sea level so we can take a swim in this incredible salt lake and make the most of the outdoor facilities at Amman's beach.
After visiting this remarkable spot in the Middle East, we'll return to Amman where you'll have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. You'll have dinner and spend the night at the hotel. Goodnight!
Day 3: Amman - Madaba - Mount Nebo - Shobak Castle - Petra
Once you've had breakfast at the hotel, we'll set off for Madaba. When we arrive, we'll visit St. George's Church and see its famous mosaic. This spectacular piece of art depicts biblical territories and is the first map of its kind to represent Palestine.
We'll then continue to Mount Nebo, the peak from which Moses first saw the Promised Lands according to the Holy Scriptures. Our next stop will be Shobak Castle, an imposing fortress built by the Crusaders in the early 12th century.
Our day will finish in Petra, where you'll have dinner at the hotel and get settled in for the night.
Day 4: Petra
Having fuelled up for the day with breakfast at the hotel, we'll spend the day exploring Petra.
Over 2,000 years ago, the Nabataeans chose the Pink City as the capital of their empire. For 500 years, they constructed beautiful temples and tombs in the pink mountains and installed advanced agricultural and water transportation systems.
When you get to the entrance of the Petra Visitor Centre, you'll have the option of hopping up into the saddle and go on a short horseride of half a mile (0.8 kilometres). While the guide explains some of the history to the rest of the group, you'll trot up to Siq with your horse.
Our tour will start at the Obelisk Tomb and continue through the Al-Siq Canyon, leading us to the jewel of the city: the Treasury of Petra. We'll admire this colossal tomb and how it's been decorated with columns and sculptures.
Next, we'll stroll through the Street of Facades and pass by the theatre on our way to the 850 steps that'll lead us to the enormous Deir Monastery.
After a fantastic day exploring Petra, we'll return to the hotel for dinner and some rest.
Day 5: Petra - Little Petra - Wadi Rum
Rise and shine! We'll have breakfast at the hotel and then head to the Wadi Rum Desert. On our fifth day, we'll explore this desert and also visit Little Petra.
When we get to the Wadi Rum Desert, we'll get to let off steam and experience an unforgettable adrenaline rush on a jeep tour. As you explore the desert, you'll admire its pink sands and uniquely-shaped granite massifs.
You'll then finish the day with dinner at the campsite before getting some rest in your Bedouin tent.
Day 6: Wadi Rum - Amman
Having had breakfast in Wad Rum, we'll set off on our return journey to Amman. Once we're back in Amman, you'll have dinner at the hotel and get some well-earned rest.
Day 7: Amman - Jerash - Aljoun - Amman
Let's explore Amman! We'll visit the Citadel, the Archaeological Museum and the Roman Theatre as we take a trip through the city's history.
Next, we'll head northbound to Jerash, a Greco-Roman city that's also known as the "Pompeii of the East" due to its significance and well-preserved condition. We'll admire the following monuments: Hadrian's Gate, the Hippodrome, the Theatre, the Agora or forum with its complete colonnade, the Cardo Maximus, the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Artemis.
The tour will then take us to Aljoun Castle, a fortress that was built in 1185 and then rebuilt in the 13th century by the Mamluks after it was destroyed by the Mongols. This Crusader-era castle is located atop a mountain, where we'll gaze out at breathtaking views.
We'll then return to Amman to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 8: Amman
Having had one last breakfast in Amman, it'll be time to say goodbye. We'll accompany you to the airport so you can catch your flight back home. Bon voyage!
Accommodation
This eight-day tour includes seven nights' half-board accommodation in Jordan. The prices shown are per person in a double or triple room. If you'd prefer to be placed in a room by yourself, you'll need to pay an additional supplement. We'll stay in the following hotels or something similar:
Amman (4 nights)
- 4-star hotel: Arena Space or La Casa
- 5-star hotel: Bristol
Petra (2 nights)
- 4-star hotel: Petra Palace or Panorama
- 5-star hotel: The Old Village Resort
Wadi Rum
- Bedouin tents in the Wadi Rum Desert
Visas
A visa is required to enter Jordan. You'll be asked to provide a copy of your passport at least one week before the tour so we can handle this for you.
Important information
- The order of the itinerary may vary depending on the arrival day in Amman.
- If you arrive in Amman after 9 pm on the first day of your tour, dinner won't be included.
- During Ramadan, which usually falls between April and May, new reservations will be made in whichever hotels are available, regardless of their category, and a discount or supplementary charge will be made according to the change.
What do I need to do this tour?
All you need is return flights to and from Amman, arriving on the first day that you've booked for this tour, and returning the same day one week later - so if you arrive on a Monday, you should depart the following Monday. Aside from that, we'll take care of everything!
