Bethany & Dead Sea Tour
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Amman and set off in the direction of Bethany, located on the banks of the Jordan River. This pilgrimage destination on the border with Israel is home to a number of churches from different branches of Christianity. Known as Jordan beyond the River, this is the place where John the Baptist baptised Jesus Christ.
We'll spend an hour visiting the archaeological ruins of the historic Byzantine churches that were built here in celebration of the sacred place, and we'll see the exact spot where Jesus of Nazareth was baptised. We'll even head down to the Jordan River so you can touch the waters of this important place for Judaism and Christianity.
Continuing our day trip, we'll travel to the south toward the Dead Sea, which is located more than 1,400 feet (430 metres) below sea level. Here, you'll have 2 hours of free time to bathe in the lake and see if it's true that it's impossible to sink in its waters due to the high salt concentrations.
Finally, our private tour will come to an end as we drop you off at your hotel in Amman after between 6 and 7 hours of exploring.
