Dolphins, tropical fish and sharks... you might've swum with them before, but not with tuna! On our La Ametlla de Mar Swimming Tuna Experience, you'll swim with tuna and enjoy a truly unique activity in Tarragona.
La Ametlla de Mar Swimming with Tuna Experience
At your chosen time, we'll meet in the Ametlla de Mar Port, where we'll kick off this tour with the swimming with tuna experience.
Once we've taken the photo, we'll set sail aboard the Balfegó Tour catamaran. During the 20-minute catamaran trip to the bluefin tuna pools we'll watch an informative video, From the Sea to Balfegó, which will help us to better understand the characteristics of the tuna and fishing techniques.
When we reach the bluefin tuna pools, we'll drop anchor so you can observe the fish that live in this facility. Around 300 tuna specimens live here, and they can grow up to 8 feet (2.5 metres) in length and weigh up to 330 pounds (250 kilograms or 23 stones 8 pounds)
Following a brief explanation, we'll start to snorkel while swimming with the tuna. For 1 hour, you'll be able to see these animals up close as you swim alongside them.
After the snorkelling activity, and depending on your selection, we'll return to the catamaran to enjoy a tuna tasting on board. After 2 hours on the water, we'll conclude the tour by returning to the port of La Ametlla de Mar.
