Description
Wineries, châteaux, and beautiful landscapes, the Loire Valley is full of attractions. It won't be long until we discover them, as we'll pick you up from the Amboise Tourist Office at 9:30 am. The first stop on this minibus tour will be the beautiful Château de Chenonceau, known for its famous arches over the river Cher.
The Château de Chenonceau, also known as the "Château des Dames" (The Ladies Castle), is one of the most spectacular royal palaces in the Loire Valley. Inside this majestic monument, we'll visit the rooms of Catherine de Medici and other illustrious women who brought this place to the forefront of the Renaissance. During the visit, we'll also learn some interesting facts about the château, called "Chenonceau" despite being located in the municipality of Chenonceaux. One of the ladies who lived in the château was responsible for the changing of the name...
We'll continue our excursion by returning to Amboise, replenishing our energy with a light lunch at the famous Duhard Wine Cellars. We'll enjoy a tasting of three French wines, paired with the cold meats and cheeses of the region included in the menu. Bon appétit!
After lunch at the Duhard Wine Caves in Amboise, we'll set off for the Château de Chambord, one of the largest in the Loire Valley. We'll visit the interior of this architectural masterpiece, which has unique features such as a spiral staircase. Did you know that Leonardo da Vinci himself designed the steps? At least that's what the legend says! Whether it's true or not, what is ture is that the French Renaissance is very present in each and every corner of the castle.
After visiting Château de Chambord, we'll return to the Tourist Office in Amboise. Arrival at this point is scheduled from 6 pm onwards.
