Tapajós River 5-Day Tour
Tapajós River 5-Day Tour
Day 1
Having picked you up at 9 am from the tourist information centre in Alter do Chão, we'll set off on a journey along the southern Tapajós River. Once we've set sail, we'll pass by Muretá Beach, Jurucuri Lake, Pindobal Beach, Cajutuba Beach, Aramanaí, Santo Domingo and Maguari.
We'll stop in the community of Jamaraquá, where we'll have a tasty selection of fruit and visit the village. While we're here, you'll have the option of going on a 4-mile hike (7-kilometre) to see the huge Samaúma tree. Afterwards, we'll get our energy back with a lunch of fish and chicken.
Once we've had lunch, you'll have the afternoon free to explore on your own. To round off our first day, we'll take a canoe trip so you can see a fantastic sunset. Bedtime! You can get some rest by the beach or on the boat.
Day 2
Rise and shine! You'll wake up in the Amazon Rainforest and then set sail along the Tapajós riverbank to see dreamlike spots such as Tauar, Perim, Acarantiga or Pedreira. We'll also make some stops so you can go swimming and take a closer look at Brazil's wild flora.
Finally, we'll come to Refúgio dos Sonhos in the rainforest. When we get there, we'll sit around a bonfire and listen to some local stories and legends.
Day 3
We'll have the morning free to wander around the lodge, its orchards, beaches, trails and see the animals that roam freely around the property. You'll also have a delicious local-style lunch on the premises before we hop on the boat to Fordlandia.
Once we've arrived, we'll have dinner and go to sleep on the boats.
Day 4
On our fourth day, we'll learn all about Henry Ford's rubber company with a tour of the abandoned town of Fordlandia. We'll see the water supply tank, the shed, the machinery and even some of the Ford Motor Company's trucks.
This town was built to source rubber, but various factors such as inadequate cultivation practices of the crop led to its complete ruin. We'll spend the whole day exploring what remains of this ill-fated town and Henry Ford.
Day 5
Hasn't the time flown by? We'll hop on our boats and head back to Alter do Chão, making a few stops along the way so you can take a refreshing dip. After we've had lunch, you'll admire one last sunset from the Tapajós River.
Our arrival back at the starting point in Alter do Chão is scheduled for 7 pm.
