Discover the exotic Brazilian Amazon on this 4-day tour of Alter do Chão, visiting the beautiful beaches of the Tapajós River and the Canal do Jari.

Tour Details

Day 1: Alter do Chão - Canal do Jari - Alter do Chão

We'll start the day by meeting at the Ocazum Inn. Once we're ready, we'll head to the so-called backcountry of the Vitórias Régias. This natural spot in the Brazilian Amazon will welcome us with beautiful landscapes that we'll admire on a boat ride.

Sailing along the Tapajós River, we'll admire its white sandy beaches until we reach the Canal do Jari. During the crossing, we'll complete the experience, enjoying a lunch with the traditional flavours of Pará.

After the boat ride, we'll set sail back to Alter do Chão and arrive just at sunset. From this moment on, you'll have the rest of the afternoon free to have dinner on your own and rest.

Day 2: Alter do Chão - Maguari

After breakfast, we'll head to the harbour to board the boat that will take us to the best beaches of Alter do Chão.

We'll dock at Ponta do Cururu or Ponta Verde beach, depending on the weather. On the way, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch on board, admiring the unparalleled views of the Amazon. Afterwards, we'll sail to the community of Maguari, located on the banks of the Tapajós River.

Upon arrival, we'll settle into an inn and, when we're ready, we'll head to the beach for a special dinner in the sea breeze. Finally, we'll rest until the next day.

Day 3: Maguari

Are you ready to explore the Tapajós National Forest and get to know the biggest tree in the region? We'll refuel with a hearty breakfast at the lodge and, when we're ready, we'll head to the Amazonian forest of Maguari.

We'll hike along the Vovozona trail, which goes through a primary forest, where we'll find a 45-metre (147 ft) high ceiba tree. Did you know that it takes about 20 people to hug this tree? It's huge!

After the trekking route, we'll return to the community of Maguari and visit Dona Maria's house for an authentic local lunch. In the afternoon, we'll head to the beach to watch the sunset and, as night falls, we'll dance to the rhythm of the carimbó.

We'll end the day with a delicious dinner around the bonfire on the beach, and we'll say goodbye at the lodge to rest.

Day 4: Maguari - Santarém International Airport

After breakfast, we'll have a handicraft workshop with forest seeds. At the end of the workshop, we'll return to Santarém International Airport. Arrival is scheduled around midday.
