Arapiuns River Communities Tour

Let's go on an adventure! At 9 am, we'll meet up at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão. From there, we'll set off northbound on a boat to the Arapiuns River.

Once we've set sail, we'll pass by Ponta do Cururu, Pirañas Lake and the Tapajós River. We'll then come to the village of Urucurea, which is nestled in a cove divided into three arms of water. When we arrive, we'll see how the local Indigenous communities live and admire their picturesque church on the top of a hill. We may even be accompanied by some monkeys and toucans! In addition, we'll head inside a typical house to see some of the artwork created by the women from this community.

You'll have the option of strolling around on your own or watching a crafts demonstration. Afterwards, you can choose between a hiking route along the creek to discover its greenery, a wooden canoe ride through the community or a visit to the spectacular Amazonian beaches.

Have you worked up an appetite yet? We'll eat fresh fish, wild chicken and some other dishes. Afterwards, you can lie down in a hammock and relax to the sounds of nature. We'll then head to Ponta do Torono and Lago Grande to see the birds, dunes and vegetation.

After an unforgettable day, we'll return to Alter do Chão and drop you off at the starting point at around 7 pm.

2-day tour

If you choose the 2-day tour, we'll visit Torono and head to Ponta Grande Beach to admire a beautiful sunset. Afterwards, we'll have a bonfire on the beach to grill some tasty fish and go to sleep surrounded by nature.

Good morning! We'll head to the riverside community of Coroca to learn about tropical turtles, bees, handicrafts and ecotourism. Next, we'll have a typical lunch that'll include fish and chicken. We'll then visit Ucuxi Beach, which is famous for its New Year's Eve festivities, and admire one final, enchanting sunset at Ponta do Cururu.

Accommodation

The 2-day tour includes 1 night's accommodation on the boat in double cabins with a private bathroom. If you'd prefer, you can choose to spend the night in a cabin in the Vista Alegre community. The latter isn't included in the tour price.
