Pulo di Altamura Bike Tour
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at the Pescariello train station to start this fun bike tour of the Pulo di Altamura. An incredible ride lies ahead!
When booking, you can choose to do the tour on a standard bike or an electric bike. Whichever option you choose, the route will be about 20 kilometers long.
We'll pedal along the country roads of the Alta Murgia National Park, gradually making our way to the Pulo di Altamura, a sinkhole spanning nearly 2 kilometers across and 90 meters deep - a sight you don't want to miss!
We'll explain how this karst sinkhole was formed, which is undoubtedly one of the largest in southern Italy. We'll also take a look at the local flora and fauna and take our bikes to explore the prehistoric caves on the north side of the Pulo di Altamura. Fun fact: the remains of a pre-neanderthal man were found in these caves! On the bike tour, your guide will tell you all about this and the history of the caves.
Then, we'll start on our way back to the starting point. After about three hours of riding, we'll leave our bikes at the starting point and the tour will finish.
