West MacDonnell National Park Day Trip
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Alice Springs to begin this day trip to the West MacDonnell National Park, located approximately 1.5 hours away. Are you ready to discover the area's impressive nature? Let's go!
The first stop will be at the Flynn's Grave Memorial, a symbolic spot as the resting place of the founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
We'll continue on into the imposing MacDonnell Ranges. This is a landscape full of orange, purple and brown tones, which contrast perfectly with the blue sky of the desert.
Our tour will continue to Simpsons Gap, where we'll take a walk to admire its impressive cliffs and natural pool. This place, full of spiritual significance to the Arrernte people, is home to ancient giant lizards. Did you know that you can also spot the friendly black-footed wallabies here?
The next stop is Standley Chasm, traditionally known as Angkerle Atwatye. This spectacular narrow gorge, sacred to women in Aboriginal culture, will amaze you with its 80-metre-high (262 ft) rock walls.
We'll walk along a 1.2-kilometre (0.7-mile) trail where you'll be able to observe the curious microclimate of the valley, with its ancient plants and unique geological formations.
Before heading back, we'll have a tea break in a cosy local café. Finally, we'll be back in Alice Springs and drop you off at your hotel after a 5-hour trip.
