Játiva, Onteniente + Anna Day Trip
We'll meet in front of the Exhibition Hall of the Lonja del Pescado (Fish Market) and leave Alicante behind to kick off an exciting day trip into the mountains of Valencia! Get ready for a day spent in the charming nearby towns of Játiva, Onteniente, and Anna.
Following a smooth 1.5-hour trip, we'll arrive at Játiva castle, a historically Muslim fort located in the heart of the Sierra Vernissa. We'll travel back in time to learn about the storied past behind this castle, once occupied by Romans and Arabs. We'll discuss its previous uses and strategic importance to the Aragonese crown.
After touring the castle grounds, we'll then head to Onteniente. Here, we'll tour the town's highlights, like the Duchess of Almodovar's Palace and the Arab and Christian Museum. Plus, in this charming town, we'll get to know its rich tradition of textiles and its significant role throughout its history.
Next up, we'll head to the town of Anna to visit the Palace of the Counts of Cervellón. Fun fact: it's also affectionately known as the Alhambra of Valencia! You'll come to see why as the palace comes into view, complete with its intricate decor and layout.
Then, we'll hop back onboard the bus and return to Alicante, arriving 7 hours later.
