Day Trip to Culla & the Maestrazgo Mining Park
Description
Our adventure begins at the designated time in front of the Alcocéber Tourist Office, where we'll commence our excursion to the Maestrazgo Mining Park and the town of Culla.
Upon our arrival at the Maestrazgo Mining Park, we'll hop on a train that'll transport us to the entrance of the Victoria mine. Here, we'll put on our safety gear and embark on a walking tour through this underground tunnel, immersing ourselves in the miners' past and uncovering fascinating insights along the way.
During our journey, we'll also encounter a variety of original tools from back in the day and engage with former miners who'll share their personal experiences, offering a deeper understanding of life in the Maestrazgo Mining Park.
Our adventure continues as we return to the surface and board the train for a scenic ride to the Esperanza mine. For approximately 20 minutes, we'll delve into geological phenomena and admire the age-old stalactites and stalagmites.
Before concluding our excursion, we'll venture to Culla, an enchanting medieval town with ties to the Order of the Temple. Notably, its historic center holds the status of a Site of Cultural Interest. As we stroll through its charming cobblestone streets, we'll uncover its many treasures, including the 11th-century Muslim castle, the Comendador's granary, and the former hospital.
Our journey will come full circle as we return to Alcocéber, arriving approximately 5 hours after meeting.
