Description
We'll begin the Albi private tour by meeting at the scheduled time at the Tourist Office.
First, we'll visit Sainte Cecile Cathedral. Inside this majestic medieval temple, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll admire its Gothic style paintings and works of art.
You'll be surprised by the size of the monument. In fact, it's considered to be the largest brick cathedral in the world. We'll also appreciate the decoration of its vault and sidewalls, which represent the stories of the Creation, the Last Judgement and the Resurrection.
The tour will continue to the Palais de la Berbie. This 13th-century palace, formerly the bishop's residence, now houses the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum. Did you know that this famous post-impressionist painter was born in Albi? We'll have the opportunity to see several canvases by this brilliant artist! We'll also admire the bucolic gardens of the Palais de la Berbie.
Then we'll take a walk through the historic centre and along the banks of the Tarn, to the Pont Vieux. Its construction began in 1040, making it one of the oldest bridges in France.
The tour will end 2 hours after the start of the activity.
