Embark on a captivating journey through Alandroal with our guided tour, unravelling its fascinating landmarks, from the imposing castle to the intriguing history of a Spanish noble lineage from the Ancient Regime. Don't miss out!

Tour Highlights

Gathering at the scheduled time at the Tourist Office in this village, conveniently located right by the border with Spain, our guided tour of Alandroal will begin, focusing on the exploration of the majestic Castle.

Situated in a delightful and truly spectacular setting, the Castle of Alandroal is home to the church of Nuestra Señora de la Concepción. This stunning church, showcasing baroque architecture within its single hall, houses the final resting place of Diogo Lopes de Sequeira, an old mayor of the town. Did you know that he served as the governor of Portuguese India between 1518 and 1522?

Adjacent to the Castle, we encounter the monumental Fonte das Bicas, an exquisite 18th-century baroque fountain crafted from marble. Adorned with six lion-headed gargoyles, this fountain stands as a testament to architectural beauty. In the vicinity, the City Hall holds the Republic Square.

A short walk from the Town Hall leads to the church of Misericordia, concealing a fascinating story that we'll discover upon arrival. Additionally, we'll pass by the Casa de Pimentel and other notable points of interest.

After a two-hour guided tour of Alandroal, you'll have unveiled the charm of this tiny yet historically and architecturally rich locale.
