On this tour of northern Iceland starting from Akureyri, you'll have the chance to explore three of the country's most stunning waterfalls: Godafoss, Selfoss, and Dettifoss!
Diamond Circle Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Akureyri at the designated time and start this tour around the Diamond Circle in the north of Iceland.
The first stop will be at the Godafoss Waterfall, also known as the "waterfall of the gods." The waterfall is one of the most important in the country and the birthplace of the Christianisation of Iceland. After discovering its history, we'll visit Lake Mývatn, where we'll witness a fascinating landscape of volcanic origin.
Then, we'll continue to the Reykjadalur Valley and visit the Skutustadir Craters. The next stop on the Diamond Circle tour is Dimmuborgir and its impressive lava formations, which originated more than 2000 years ago. We'll take a walk through the "dark castles" and visit the Grjótagjá Cave.
Among the places we'll visit will be the Selfoss and Dettifoss waterfalls, one of the most impressive waterfalls in Iceland. In the final stretch of the Diamond Circle, we'll discover the hot springs of Grjótagja. To understand how these facilities work, we'll leave you free time to take a dip in the thermal baths near Lake Mývatn.
Finally, we'll pass by Eyjafjordur, where you'll be able to admire its imposing fjord. After this stop to take pictures, we'll drop you off at your hotel in Akureyri, where we'll conclude this 9-hour tour.
