Valley of the Temples Private Tour

At your chosen time, we'll meet at the agreed meeting point in the Valley of the Temples and start our private tour of Agrigento or, as it was called by the Greeks, Agracante

On this 2 hour tour around the iconic Valley of the Temples, we'll explore one of the centres of Magna Graecia, a place that some compare to the Acropolis of Athens. Its Doric temples were even declared a World Heritage Site in 1998 as they were such well-preserved archaeological sites.

After looking out at a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea from the Temple of Juno, we'll start walking. We'll walk along the Via Sacra and admire the ancient walls of the Greek city mentioned by Virgil in his epic poem The Aeneid. Our steps will lead us to the Temple of Concordia and its almost entirely preserved colonnade, where we'll learn all about the history of this monument.

We'll then pass by a paleochristian necropolis and discuss the different historical eras that this complex has witnessed. In addition, we'll see the Temples of Heracles and Zeus and hear some mythological legends about Agracante.

Our private tour will then finish, 2 hours after starting, at the Temple of Zeus.

3-hour Tour

If you'd like to see even more, you can also visit the Temple of Castor and Pollux, which is one of the most mysterious places in Agrigento. You could also take a look at the Kolymbetra Garden to see the charming orange and lemon trees, which are typical in Sicily.

After 3 hours of exploring the Valley of the Temples, we'll finish the private tour in the Kolymbetra Garden.
