Trollsjön Guided Hike
Description
On the day of the activity, we'll pick you up from your chosen meeting point and then head into the tranquil mountain birch forest. This serene environment, with a forest floor covered in ferns, mosses and woodland flowers, sets the scene for a calming 12-kilometre (7.4-mile) hike. Adventurers unite!
As the guide takes us along the mountain path, we'll see various plant species and the native wildlife that thrive in this rich ecosystem. As the path ascends past the tree line, the scenery will transform dramatically. The dense forest will give way to alpine meadows and rocky outcrops, with the air becoming crisper and colder as we continue to climb higher. Throughout the hike, we'll ascend 400 metres (1,312 feet) up through the mountains and valleys. The changing landscape will afford us some stunning panoramic views. Get your camera ready!
As we enter Kärkevvage, or "Stone Valley", we'll encounter a true geological marvel filled with immense boulders scattered across the valley. These large boulders were deposited by ancient glaciers, creating a dramatic and otherworldly landscape. The unique atmosphere of the valley, with its natural sculptures and rock formations, will undoubtedly leave us in awe. The guide will share the area's geological history with us, as we learn about how these stunning features came to be.
We'll eventually arrive at Trollsjön, also known as Rissajaure in Sami, meaning "The lake that sparkles like fire". This breathtaking lake, renowned for its clear waters, offers absolute visibility revealing the depths of the 36-metre-deep (118-foot) lake. After the rewarding hike, we'll indulge in a delicious lunch break by the lake's edge, surrounded by pristine natural beauty. Those who are brave enough can enjoy a refreshing dip in the ice-cold water.
After 7 hours together, we'll bring this stunning hike to Trollsjön to an end. Tills nästa gång!
