Pella and Vergina Day Trip
Description
At the indicated time we'll meet next to the sculpture of Eleftherios Venizelos, located in Egnatia Street. There, we'll board a minibus and leave Thessaloniki behind to start this excursion to Pella and Vergina.
After a 45-minute drive, we'll reach Pella, the hometown of Alexander the Great. This was the capital of Macedonia between the 5th and 4th centuries BC and is today home to an amazing archaeological site that we will explore. We will travel back in time, learning about the lives of illustrious figures such as Aristotle, Euripides, Philip II, and Alexander the Great himself.
We will go into the site's museum to discover the many finds that have been made in the area. The exhibition includes everyday objects of the inhabitants of the ancient city and wonderful mosaic floors of the "house of Dionysus" and the "house of Helena".
After this, we will take you to Vergina. Here, we'll stop in front of the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai, where you can find the tomb of King Phillip II of Macedon.
Once we've explored this World Heritage Site, we'll take you to a local restaurant to enjoy a Greek lunch at your own expense. Finally, we'll return to Salonica.
After 13 hours of excursion, we'll end the activity back at the starting point.
