Meteora Tour by Train
Meteora Tour by Train
At the indicated time, your train will depart from Thessaloniki Station towards Kalambaka.
At the exit of Kalambaka Station, our English-speaking driver will be waiting for us to take us to the Meteora Monasteries, which are only 20 minutes away. During the drive, our driver will explain the origin and history of this impressive monastic complex declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
When we reach the top of the Meteora Mountains, we'll have four hours to visit the monasteries: Great Meteoron, St. Nikolaos, Holy Trinity, St. Stephen, Varlaam, and Roussanou. Each of them has its own particularities and history, as well as different works of art that make them unique and unrepeatable. During these hours, we'll admire the exterior of all of them and visit the interior of one or two of the monasteries.
After spending the agreed time, our driver will take us back to Kalambaka train station, where you can rest until your return train departs. Finally, you'll arrive at Thessaloniki Station after spending a wonderful day discovering one of the most beautiful places in Greece.
Visiting the monasteries
Some monasteries will be closed to the public, except on Saturdays and Sundays when they are all open. For example, you should note that the Great Meteor Monastery is closed on Tuesdays.
