Nepal 6 Day Trek
Nepal 6 Day Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu
When your flight lands, you'll be picked up from the arrivals hall of Kathmandu's Tribhuwan International Airport, and taken to your hotel in the city.
Later, you'll meet your professional English-speaking trek leader, who will take you to a typical Nepalese restaurant, where you'll enjoy a delicious welcome dinner. As well as tasting Nepali cuisine, you'll also enjoy a traditional dance and music performance to introduce you to the country's incredible culture.
At the end of your first evening, you'll return to your hotel to relax.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley
Prepare yourself for the big day ahead with a hearty breakfast, before beginning your guided tour of Kathmandu's most emblematic sights. Your expert guide will keep you informed and entertained about Nepal's history as you visit the Boudhnath Stupa, one of the largest of its kind in the world; the Pashupatinath Temple, a Hindu complex on the banks of the Bagmati River; Swyambhunath, a stupa also known as Monkey Temple, and famous for its paintings of Buddha's eyes and eyebrows that look down at visitors from all angles; and Durbar Square, the location of the ancient Newar royal palace.
Following your guided route around the Nepali capital, you'll check all of the trekking equipment and clothing and get all the information you need before the following day's adventure begins.
As night falls, you'll have free time to explore Kathmandu at your own pace before returning to your hotel for a good night's sleep ready for your hike.
Day 3: Sundarijal - Chisopani
After breakfast, you'll head northeast of Kathmandu by air-conditioned bus to begin your trekking route in Sundarijal, whose name in the Nepalese language literally means "beautiful water". Arriving in the small village, you'll soon see why.
Your hike will begin walking to the entrance of the Shivapuri National Park, through which you'll continue trekking up to the Sundarijal dam, which supplies Kathmandu Valley with the majority of its water. Your trail through the national park will lead to Mulkharka, a tiny farming village where you'll see beautiful mud houses, agricultural terraces and stunning panoramic views over the valley.
You'll continue hiking uphill through magnificent rhododendron forests, reaching the Duerali ridge, from which you'll be able to see the mountainous region surrounding you in all its splendour. Spot the Himalayan peaks of Annapurna, Manslu, Dorje Lapka and the Langtang area.
Finally, you'll head back down the hill to Chisopani. Here, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in local life with a stroll through its streets, before you relax at the lodge where you'll spend the night.
Day 4: Nagarkot
Start your day early with a magical experience: eating breakfast at the lodge while watching a beautiful sunrise over rural Nepal. You'll then continue your trek, setting off on a route that will take you through the little village of Jhule and past incredible panoramic views over the Himalayas and the Kathmandu Valley.
Your trail will lead you to the community of Nagarkot, located atop a peak at 7000 feet (2000 m) above sea level, giving you 360-degree views of the breath-taking Himalaya mountain range. You'll have free time here to watch the beautiful sunset and explore the monuments of the ancient fort-town, before heading to your hotel to rest.
Day 5: Changu Narayan - Kathmandu
Begin your fifth day with another awe-inspiring sunrise over the Himalayas, watching as the sun's rays illuminate the snowy peaks of Annapurna and Everest with dramatic orange hues.
After a good breakfast, set off on your hike to Changu Narayan. Along your route, you'll be left fascinated by the picturesque settlements you pass and their authentic Nepali culture and customs. At the end of your trek, you'll reach the legendary Changu Narayan Temple, the oldest Hindu sanctuary in Kathmandu Valley and possibly in the whole of Nepal. You'll be captivated by its ancient charm and the mysterious legends that surround it.
Having visited the temple, you'll be taken to the historic Newa town of Bhaktapur by comfortable private vehicle, where you'll have free time to discover its temples, palaces and other quintessential Nepali monuments at your own pace. Finally, you'll be returned to your hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 6: Kathmandu
On your last day in Nepal, you'll be dropped off at the airport in time for your flight home. If your flight departs late in the day, you can spend your free time doing some last-minute souvenir shopping or visiting more of the city's landmarks.
