Private Tour of Kathmandu
Private Tour of Kathmandu
The beautiful capital of Nepal awaits us on this private tour of Kathmandu. After picking you up from your hotel at the selected time, we'll drive to the city centre ready to begin exploring.
We'll embark on a guided walking tour of Kathmandu, and more specifically of Durbar Square, or "Royal Palace Square", home to many buildings and monuments of interest. Admire the Hanuman Dhoka, an enormous palace complex where the former Nepalese monarchy lived until 1886, while your guide takes the opportunity to tell you about one of the most important events in Nepal's history, and about how Hinduism and Buddhism influence the day-to-day lives of its people.
Hopping back into the car, we'll cross Freak Street, so-named for its hippy atmosphere, before reaching Kumari House. Here, we'll hear all about the Living Goddess or Kumari, a young girl who is venerated as a deity. Do you know how the next kumari is chosen? You'll learn all about it on the tour!
The car will then take us to Swayambhunath, a religious complex that offers incredible panoramic views of Kathmandu thanks to its hilltop location. The temple, which is over 2500 years old, captivates visitors with its golden colours and the imposing image of the Buddha's eyes portrayed on all sides of the building.
Our private tour of Kathmandu will come to an end back at your hotel, after three and a half hours exploring this unique city and its fascinating temples, palaces and history.
