Nepali Food Private Cooking Class
Nepali Food Private Cooking Class
From your hotel in Kathmandu, you'll be taken to a residential area located around 30 minutes from the Nepali capital. About halfway through the journey, you'll make a stop at a traditional market where, as well as getting to know the most important produce used in the country's cuisine, you'll also purchase the ingredients needed to make dal bhat, a typical Nepalese dish. The meal consists of a bowl of boiled rice, or bhat; a lentil soup known as dal; a vegetable or meat curry called takari, and lots of tasty Asian spices like turmuric, coriander and garam masala.
Once you've got all the ingredients needed, you'll continue on your route to the residential area of Kathmandu where you'll be welcomed into the home of a Nepali family. With their help and guidance, you'll prepare a dal baht, following the recipe of the authentic national recipe. As you cook, the family will explain the different customs of the culinary traditions that have been passed down through the generations of people living here in the foothills of the Himalayas.
As the delicious smells of dal baht fill the room, it's time to eat. Everyone to the table! Enjoy the unique experience of sitting and sharing homemade food with a local family. Learn more about their culture as you chat and exchange differences and similarities between the traditions and food of Nepal and your own country. An incredible day that you'll never forget!
Following your meal, you'll say goodbye to your new friends, before being dropped off back at your hotel in Kathmandu.
