On the morning of your activity, you'll be picked up from your hotel in Kathmandu at your chosen time and head out of the city centre into the rural villages located to the south of the Nepalese capital.
The first stop on your day trip will be in the tiny town of Bungamati, which is nestled in the heart of the Lalitpur Valley. The majority of the population of the settlement are Newar people, a historic community who have maintained their ancient culture, religion and language throughout the centuries that they have inhabited the Kathmandu Valley. Throughout your tour, you'll discover the main customs and traditions of Newar Bungamati while you explore the monuments and landmarks around the village. One architectural highlight is the Temple of Machhindranath, whose magnificent pearlescent domes stand out as a symbol of this area of Nepal.
Following your tour of Bungamati, you'll set off to the nearby settlement of Khokana, where you'll continue learning all about the origins and history of the Newar civilisation. As your guide explains the evolution of the culture over the centuries, you'll visit more of the village's important religious buildings, including Shree Rudrayani. This 500-year-old temple is known for its distinctive three-storeyed architecture and the intricate latticework on each level.
At the end of your tour, you'll be taken back to Kathmandu and dropped off at your hotel.
