The best month to travel might just be April. It’s spring in the Northern Hemisphere, temperatures are rising (but not yet sweltering), tourist destinations aren’t yet packed and plants are flowering. In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s also an off-season, autumn is in full swing and temperatures are pleasant.

If you’re lucky enough to be able to travel this spring season (and maybe looking for some travel inspiration), check out our list of the very best places to travel in April 2025!

1. Madrid, Spain

Flowers are coming into bloom, not too hot, not too cold, and action-packed—April is the month when the Spanish capital city of Madrid comes alive. Really, it’s the perfect time to see the city’s main sights: Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol, Retiro Park, all of which you can see on a free walking tour of Madrid. What’s more, if you’re looking at going to galleries, at this time of year, they’ll be far less crowded, making for a far more pleasant experience! We recommend taking guided tours of the Reina Sofia and the Prado Museum to get the full experience and to ensure you see both the highlights and the hidden gems.

While you’re in Madrid, you’d be crazy not to take the chance to enjoy day trips to nearby towns! With the mild weather, it’s the perfect time to take a day trip to Toledo or to Segovia.

2. Cusco, Peru

Our first entry on the Southern Hemisphere: Cusco. This ancient Incan capital nestled in the Andes Mountains boasts stunning architecture, vibrant markets, and rich cultural heritage and yes, it is a fantastic April travel destination. At this time of year, Cusco has lower levels of rainfall compared to January-March (especially toward the end of the month) and pleasantly mild temperatures.

Cusco is a great place to simply explore on its own. To do so, we’d recommend opting for a free tour of Cusco. Cusco is also a fantastic starting point for a day trip to Machu Puchu or 2-day tour to Machu Picchu—one of the best-preserved Inca cities and an archaeological gem truly like no other.
