If you’re also feeling a bit too chilly, you’ll love our summary of the best places to escape the cold this winter. Grab your sun cream and off we go!

Singapore

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

With an average temperature of 30.5°C in January, Singapore is a great place to visit if you’d like to escape the cold this winter! Its location just 1.5 degrees north of the equator promises a tropical rainforest climate and lovely weather for a winter break.

During your trip, you could head to the world-famous Marina Bay Sands to browse its various malls. This spot also boasts an incredible observation deck from which you can admire views of the whole city. Another place to add to your list would be Gardens by the Bay, a spot that encompasses futurism, nature and uniqueness all in one.

The Bahamas

Nassau, in the Bahamas

Another fantastic place to jet off to if you want to get away from the cold is the Bahamas. If you’re after sun and a little humidity, it’s the perfect place for you!

We recommend heading to Nassau and taking a dip at the beach. The average temperature of almost 26°C means you can relax on the beach and take tours of the city and nearby sights such as Clifton Heritage Park and the peaceful island of New Providence.

Morocco

Marrakech, Morocco

If you’re looking for some winter sun but you don’t want to go somewhere scorching hot, then Morocco could be the place for you! In February, Marrakech sees daily highs of 20°C, which is perfect weather for going out and touring the city.

From the moment you land, there’s limitless activities you could do! Some of our top picks would be visiting the Sahara Desert, riding camels and exploring Marrakech and some of the Imperial Cities found nearby.

The Maldives

Paradise in the Maldives

Did someone say paradise? For many people, the Maldives are a great place to visit to escape the cold. Even in winter, you can expect temperatures of around 27°C. Don’t forget your sun cream!

The water around this archipelagic country is warm and boasts crystal-clear visibility, so it’s one of the best places to go snorkelling or try some scuba diving. You could also do adventure activities such as parasailing, or simply relax on the beach, admire beautiful sunsets and have delicious food.

Costa Rica

If you’re thinking about visiting Costa Rica, then winter could be the perfect time to go for it! This Central American country’s dry season is in full swing in winter, with daily highs of 33°C meaning a hot holiday is definitely in the cards.

You can relax on its paradisiacal beaches, go snorkelling and set off on a hike to the country’s volcanoes and national parks. Get ready for rushing waterfalls, incredible biodiversity and endless adventure activities in the jungle!

Mexico

Cancún, Mexico

We can find no shortage of reasons to visit Mexico, but yet another reason would be to escape the cold this winter! If you head to the country’s south-east coast, you could be waking up to daily highs of 30.5°C.

One of our favourite places to visit would be Cancún. During your visit, you can sunbathe on the golden sandy beaches and visit historic archaeological sites such as Chichén Itzá. What are you waiting for?

Brazil

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Football, beaches and carnivals… what more could you ask for on a visit to Brazil? As temperatures reach a daily average of 29°C in January, Rio de Janeiro is definitely a place to go if you’re craving some winter sun

During your stay, you can go on a tour of this vibrant city and stroll along the beautiful beaches. In addition, you could even attend the world-famous carnival that starts at the end of February and immerse yourself in the local culture.

South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa

Due to its location, South Africa experiences its summer season during our winter, making it a great place to visit if you want to escape the cold. Its second-largest city, Cape Town, sees an average of 27°C in January – perfect for a sunny winter break!

We recommend taking a walking tour of this historic city and then either hiking or getting the cable car up to the iconic Table Mountain. Visitors can also stroll along the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and admire views of Table Mountain from the sea.

Australia

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef

Similar to South Africa, Australia also has its warmest months during our winter season. Even though there’s a chance of rain, you’re also likely to see lots of sun if you jet off to Sydney this winter.

While you’re in Sydney, you can visit the famous Opera House, walk along Bondi Beach and see Harbour Bridge. Nature lovers can head to places such as Brisbane and Cairns and take a trip to the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef.

Canary Islands

Papagayo Beach in Lanzarote

Spain’s Canary Islands are also excellent places to fly to if you’d like to escape the cold. This archipelago has eight different islands where you can relax in the warm weather and soak up the sun.

Tenerife is one of the most popular places to visit, especially the south where you’ll find slightly warmer and drier weather and plenty of tourist resorts. Don’t forget to visit the Teide, which is Spain’s highest peak! Many visitors also head to Lanzarote, which boasts beautiful spots such as Papagayo Beach and the Timanfaya National Park.
