I recommend this activity. We were able to have a very nice day. The weather on each island was perfect, which allowed us to visit and enjoy it well. + beautiful boat trip, departure from Santa Lucia, we were able to see Venice from the sea! Top recommendations. To improve, we don't really understand what the guide explains in French, due to the boat's microphone... we missed some explanations... too bad.

Enjoy a boat trip around the Venetian Lagoon's most famous islands, Burano, Murano, and Torcello. On this self-guided tour, you'll get an overview of these three jewels of the city in a budget-friendly, stress-free, and comfortable way!

Burano, Murano & Torcello Self-Guided Excursion

We'll depart at the indicated time from a pier in the center of Venice, where we'll board a boat and set sail across the beautiful Venetian Lagoon, towards the most famous and ancient islands in Venice. During the journey on the boat, we'll admire incredible views of Venice's old quarter.

The first stop will be in Murano, possibly the most famous island of the three due to its world-renowned Murano glass-blowing techniques. Here, you'll get the chance to see the inside of a glass workshop, if you wish, and then you'll have another 30 minutes of free time to explore the island. If you don't visit the glass workshop, you'll have one hour to explore Murano at your leisure.

Continuing on the boat excursion, the next stop will be in Burano, one of the most picturesque places in the Venetian Lagoon. You'll have free time to walk its narrow streets lined with the famous multi-colored houses that have inspired so many artists. According to legend, the fishermen who originally lived on the island painted them this way so that they could find their way home on foggy days. You'll also have some time to tour the lace shops (or merletto as it's known in Burano) for which the island is also famous.

After that, we'll make our way back to the boat and head to Torcello, the oldest island in the Venetian Lagoon. At the height of its splendor, it was more populated than Venice itself. Today Torcello is a beautiful, peaceful retreat where you can still find its decadent and authentic air. Here you can explore its streets, and visit places such as Attila's Throne and the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta.

In Torcello, you'll also get the chance to taste the best of Venetian cuisine, as the tour stops at a delicious restaurant on the island. If you'd like, you'll have the option here to purchase a glass of wine accompanied by some cicchetti, a typical appetizer from Venice.

Finally, we'll return to Venice, concluding the tour at the pier you choose upon booking.

Pickup & drop-off location

Upon booking, you'll be given the option to select one of the following pickup and drop-off points:

  • Santa Lucia Pier (Ponte della Costituzione) departs at 12 pm
  • Riva degli Schiavioni Pier departs at 12:30 pm

If you start from Riva degli Schiavioni and at the end of the tour you prefer to end in Santa Lucia, you'll have to pay an extra fee of  7.50 (US$ 8.10) on the day of the tour. If the opposite happens, i.e. you start in Santa Lucia and you want to finish in Riva degli Schiavioni, you won't have to pay extra fees.
