Everest Base Camp: 9 Day Trek

Day 1: Kathmandu - Lukla - Phakding

On the first day of this unforgettable adventure in Nepal, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu and take you to the airport for the 30-minute flight to the city of Lukla, the gateway to the Himalayas.

Having arrived in Lukla, we'll gather all the equipment we'll need for our Everest Base Camp trek and set off on the first part of the route, a gentle ascent that will get us used to hiking. Gradually, we will leave the town behind and enter the forested terrains that characterise the landscapes on the way to Phakding, the settlement where we'll spend our first night.

Day 2: Phakding - Namche Bazaar

We'll rise early in the morning and, after a hearty breakfast, continue our trek from Phakding following the course of the Dudh Koshi River through pine forests and waterfalls.

As we leave the forest behind, we'll begin to see the craggy snow-capped peak of Thamserku Mountain looming above us at 6608 metres above sea level - a challenge to conquer!

After lunch, we will enter the wilderness of Sagarmatha National Park, the Sanskrit name for the famous Mount Everest, where we'll remain for the rest of the 9-day trek.

Finally, we'll arrive at Namche Bazaar, known as the "commercial centre" of the entire Khumbu region of Nepal.

Day 3: Namche Bazaar - Pangboche

On the third day, we'll leave Namche Bazaar behind and continue our ascent to Everest Base Camp. At the end of this day, we'll have climbed to an altitude of 3990 metres!

Along the way, we'll enjoy the breathtaking Himalayan mountain scenery and visit the village of Tengboche, home to the Tengboche Monastery, the oldest and most important religious institution in the region.

On the final part of the trek, we'll cross a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola River to the village of Pangboche, where we'll spend the night in a lodge or tea house.

Day 4: Pangboche - Tukla

After a good night's sleep and a full breakfast, we'll pick up our backpacks again and start the day's trek.

This time, we'll rise above the tree line and explore a very different landscape from the previous days. We'll pass through the valley of the Khumbu Khola River and walk through barren, rocky terrain as we pass through small Sherpa villages such as Somare and Pheriche. Finally we will reach the village of Tukla, where we'll spend the night.

Day 5: Tukla - Everest Base Camp - Gorak Shep

Day five will be challenging! The most demanding day of the entire trek awaits us. However, we assure you that the effort will be well worth it, as you'll enjoy some of the best views of the Pumori, Lhotse, and Nupste mountains and, of course, Mount Everest.

We'll ascend to the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, where we'll pay our respects to the monument dedicated to Sherpa Babu Chiri and the fallen climbers. We'll then climb for approximately two hours to Lobuche, before continuing onwards to Gorak Shep, the original site of Everest Base Camp. We'll make a stop there before continuing on to the present day base camp. Come on, one last effort!

After this last hike, we'll reach Everest Base Camp, a trekker's dream - congratulations! We'll make the most of our time here, taking photos and celebrating reaching the base camp of the highest mountain in the world before we return to Gorak Shep to spend the night.

Day 6: Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar - Pheriche

Before sunrise on day six, we'll make our way to the Kala Patthar viewpoint, where we'll enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the entire route. Some consider it to be the best viewpoint in the Himalayas and of Everest. You'll have to decide that for yourself! After admiring one of the most special sunrises you'll ever see, we'll return to the lodge to refuel with a delicious breakfast.

With renewed energy, we'll begin our descent to the village of Pheriche.

Day 7: Pheriche - Namche Bazaar

On the seventh day, we'll continue our descent back to the village of Tengboche, where we'll take a break before continuing our trek for approximately three hours to Namche Bazaar.

Day 8: Namche Bazaar - Lukla

One last push! After enjoying breakfast, we'll start the final leg of the trek back to Lukla. We'll enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery once again as we pass through the remote villages of Jorsalle, Monjo, and Phakding.

Once we reach the town, we'll leave our luggage at the hostel and enjoy a delicious typical Nepalese dinner in a local restaurant. You've earned it!

Day 9: Lukla - Kathmandu

On the ninth day, after one last look at Mount Everest, we will take you to Lukla airport for your flight to Kathmandu, where we'll drop you off at your hotel and say goodbye.
